[Synopsis] (Taken from goodreads)

Nikki Donovan, Demon Princess, is back – and stuck in a love triangle that’s straight out of hell!

Fresh from finding out that she is a demon princess, fighting her aunt for her life, and rescuing her father from being poisoned, Nikki Donovan is looking forward to getting back to her regular high school life. But when Rhys, the handsome king of the faery realm, decides to show up at her school as a “foreign exchange student,” Nikki knows this won’t be possible. Couple with this a whole host of other problems: there’s a new prophecy that claims she will destroy everyone. Her conflicted feelings for Rhys and her boyfriend, Michael, are getting in the way of their relationship. Her best friend Melinda just might be a demon-slayer-in-training, and her old crush Chris might know of her demon side. Throw in a field trip to none other than Hell itself…and Nikki’s going to be hoping for a rain check on more than just her homework!

(Review) (DISCLAIMER:This is my opinion only, may contain spoilers for the book, may contain coarse language)

  • The plot for this book was what I was hoping for, Rhys having a more prominent role in the story ever since they introduced him in book one
  • I was so annoyed by Rhys though, luckily Michael reappeared in time
  • The good thing about this series is that you don’t need to read the 1st book in order to understand the 2nd book’s storyline
  • The story of the dragon tear’s bracelet sounds so sad, the only tear a dragon sheds in its entire lifetime and its shed when its slayed by someone
  • The prophecy felt quite thrown in as they did not introduce or mention it in the first book
  • Its really sad to see that Nikki and Michael have to be apart because of all the rules in the Shadowlands (but I guess then the story still plays along with the whole Romeo and Juliet theme)
  • Rhys uses his curiousity to hide his more ‘bad boy’ image and painful emotions? (but he does address his painful emotions nearing the end of this book)
  • I think the 2nd prophecy (about darkness surrounding Nikki and endangering her) is more interesting and better (I’m suspecting it could be about Michael or her friend Melinda)
  • OMG, the reading of Nikki as Rhys’s fiancé was really cute
  • I think the scene where Nikki carries early for Melinda’s dance practise gave book 3 away too fast (but at least its introduced in this book)
  • Wow, finding out that Chris has dragon blood and may potentially be an oracle was a good addition
  • OMG, that moment when Rhys kissed Nikki and Michael suddenly appeared has me freaking out
  • There is still quite a lot of mystery surrounding the Shadows (revealed a little nearing the end of the book)
  • I think challenging the prophecy was clever, there could be another darkling out there
  • OMG the epic plot twist when we find out that the King and Queen of the faery realm wasn’t killed by a demon but by a Shadow (That actually makes us understand why the Shadows are so feared)
  • Kieren was the main antagonist all along, Cassandra has a good vibe although she is spoilt and bratty
