When Clary and Simon visit the club Pandemonium, she never expected to see Shadowhunters or witness a murder. When her mother goes missing, she has to depend on the Shadowhunters to help manuvoeur the strange creatures in the downworld.

I’ve actually watched the movie (disliked it), television series (liked it) and have tried reading this book before but never managed to get through the entire book. And now I finally have.

I really like the simplistic writing style. I really actually liked Clary since she’s pretty feisty and savage! I was very surprised by the characters because I never really liked Clary in the movie or TV show, but I really liked her in the books. I actually dislike Jace and found Luke really cold as compared to the TV show.

I really enjoyed the world building and can see why this series gathered a lot of hype. I could also see why Valentine made a really good villain.

I didn’t feel the romance between Clary and Jace, but at least it wasn’t insta-love and developed slowly. I liked that there were a lot of twists and turns and think that I actually would have LOVED the books if I had read them first before watching the movie and TV show.

I would definitely love to continue reading the series but probably wouldn’t binge read it because I can never seem to find the books at my local library.

Movie Review: The Incredibles (2004) (3.5 Stars)

“I never look back, it distracts from the now.”

Genre: Family, Drama, Animation, Action, Adventure

Rating: 3.5 stars

Review:

Superheroes have been forced into hiding and Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) is forced to work a 9-5 job he hates in order to provide for his super family. When he gets offered money for a mission, he jumps at the opportunity, only to be faced with a familiar person.

I can still remember the first time I watched it in 2004! This time it was my local TV playing it in preparation for the 2nd movie, so I immediately decided to watch it for a recap. I was thrilled that after 14 years, the sequel was finally going to be made!

I definitely feel that the police were too dependant on the superheroes although the superheroes ending up being forced into hiding. I love how the families deal with ‘family’ problems although they have super powers and that kind of shows that even if they’re superheroes, they still face the same types of problems everyone else does.

The lighting was mainly dark while the music was heroic, dramatic and full of jazz vibes. I really liked the story progression, message and Buddy’s villain story.

I absolutely love Frozone’s wife and Edna in the movie!

Layla has new powers manifesting and Zayne finally seems to be reciprocating Layla’s feelings, but Roth returns. With more danger lurking close, Layla has to make a lot of decisions that would not only affect her, but the entire world.

I was upset at Roth for acting distant, but it was most probably a ploy to get the audience to sway over to Zayne’s side. My hands down favourite scene would have to be Layla throwing the burger onto the ground. I was so upset since it was clear that Roth was playing the bad guy for her (and majority of the reviews were rooting for Roth too).

I mainly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the love triangle since it was obvious that Roth was trying to stand in their way.

By 2/3 of the book I was getting kind of bored since I ended up only wanting to know who she ended up with. I borrowed the entire series but am not going to read the last book, but will definitely take a peek to see who she ends up with.

If you do not want to be spoiled for who she ends up with, leave my review now!

Anime Review: Mahoutsukai no Yome/ The ancient magnus bride (4 stars)

Anime Review: Mahoutsukai no Yome/ The ancient magnus bride

Genre: Fantasy, Magic, Shounen, Slice of life

Number of episodes: 24 (Completed)

Rating: 4/5 stars

Chise just wants somewhere to return to, somewhere to call home. She is sold to the highest bidder, Elias, who wants to make her his apprentice. Chise has been ostracised by others for being a Sleigh Beggy – someone who’s a magical caster with the ability to generate and absorb large quantities of energy, at the expense of their lifespan, also the magical creatures love them. Elias is a mage and he wants Chise to be his bride. Along the way, the two of them meet new friends and help other creatures out.

Some parts were comedic, but overall, it was more on the dark side. The music is gentle. I really enjoyed the story progression. It was also pretty emotionally heartbreaking. The ending was a nice one and they kinda DO get married in the end!

Imagine Harry potter meets beauty and the beast, the anime is filled with magic and things to learn. It’s also set in London, with fairies, dragons and creatures.

*Trigger warning: cats getting killed in episode 5. It’s not graphic, but there’s a ton of blood. So cat lovers, you might want to skip the episode or proceed with caution!

Okay, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out the origin of Cartaphilus’s story since it is based on the Wandering Jew from the bible. And he was baptised by Joseph. OMG this is so cool!

NaNoWriMo 2018 – Part 4 (Finale)

Guys, I hit 75k words! I know I should be ecstatic and partying like crazy, but I’m so sick I don’t even have the energy for this T.T

Week 4
(19/11) -chap 22 -55,829 (+2,556) Got a little stuck, but thought of the worst thing that could happen now and added that in!

(20/11) chap 23 -58,424 (+2,592) First a little stuck, but the scene became really fun to write because we’re at the climax of the story

(21/11) – chap 24- 61,121 (+2,700) AHHH they have met, I repeat, they have met! (I waited 2 months for this to happen and was so excited that it did!)

(22/11) – chap 25 – 63,643 (+2,521) They work together pretty interestingly and I wanted them to meet earlier AHHH, but I was surprised at their hostile chemistry and how they both found each other fascinating.

(23/11) -chap 26 ,27-66,181 (+2,540 +2,533) Took a little while to get this chapter down *SICKKKK

(24/11) -chap 28  -70,780 (+2,065) Fever since the night before but by afternoon was okay to write.

(25/11)- chap 29 – 72, 848 (+2,068) Throat was horrible so I barely wrote.

Week 5

(26/11) – chap 30 -74, 156 (+1,308) Sick AF, barely wrote *Supposed to finish on this day, but the sickness is killing me

(27/11) -chap 30 -75,104 (+990) Literally teared up that I finished! Although I wasn’t a fan of how the ending turned out, at least the first draft is finished and I’m done! It’s been extremely though the past 3 days and honestly I’m glad it’s over and now I can focus on recuperating because I feel horrible AF

Honestly, I feel horrible, I’ve been living off half portions of food and barely have any appetite T.T I’ve been eating porridge, bananas and soup and tons of water, but my throat still hurts every time I swallow so it really sucks 😦 I was definitely supposed to write more for this update but this sickness has me feeling really bad!

Don’t forget to join my giveaway and once I’m fully recovered, I promise I will do some blog hopping to spread some more love!
