Book review: Unchained (Nephilim Rising #1) by J. Lynn (4 stars)

(I received a free eARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.)

Unchained (Nephilim Rising #1) by J. Lynn

Genre: Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance

Rating: 4/5 stars

(DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my opinion only.)

Lily is a Nephilim and trained to hunt demons, she shouldn’t be getting close to fallen angel Julian, but she can’t help it. Her forbidden relationship with Julian is the perfect scapegoat for a traitor walking among the Sanctuary’s midst.

Imagine the Shadowhunters combined with the Angels Unlimited series by Annie Dalton.

Trigger warning: Suicide

The heat factor in this book was pretty high and I liked that the mystery of the traitor was kept all hush hush until the end. (I only guessed it when it was pages near to the reveal) I was a fan of the story progression and pacing and felt the twist was pretty good. I enjoyed the world building as well.

I had no idea J. Lynn was Jennifer L. Armentrout and was pleasantly surprised when I found out. I devoured the book in a 3 hour sitting and enjoyed it immensely.
