Title: Bumblebee  (2018)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi

Rating: 3.5 stars

Review:

In 1987, Bumblebee is a runaway soldier finds solace in a small junkyard. Charlie, fresh on 18 and still finding her place in the world, finds Bumblebee and helps him try to remember.

The music is upbeat, dramatic and filled with 80/90s music.

The interaction scenes between Charlie and Bumblebee were cute and so heartwarming to watch. It was actually also pretty funny. Bumblebee is such a cutie pie and I think they captured his young and fun-loving vibe really well.

I never watched the transformers movies, but did roughly know the story, but I was really impressed that they made it so emotional even though they used a simple storyline. I teared many times and honestly this is the only transformers movie I would ever watch LOL.

Movie Review: Aquaman (2018) (3 stars)

“Atlantis had always had a king, now it needs something more.”

“What could be greater than a king?”

“A hero.”

Review:

Arthur is the human-born heir to the Kingdom of Atlantis, along with Mera, he goes on a quest to prevent war between the land and the sea.

The music was tense and heavy, filled with rock pieces while the lighting was mainly cool.

I did feel that it was animated well (especially the hair) but the pacing felt ill-timed, rushed and too slow at certain parts. The scripting felt pretty bad to me too, although I loved the transition shots.

Imagine Black Panther in an underwater setting instead.

I didn’t feel that the actors made the characters interesting enough, or breathe enough life into them to make them stay in your memory. The story mainly followed the hero’s journey, but it was pretty predictable.

Honestly, I felt that Oram was a more interesting character than Arthur LOL. And in all honesty (you know I’m a big hopeless romantic), but I didn’t feel the romance between Arthur and Mera. But Atlanna and Tom are so cute.

Cartoon Review: Voltron Legendary Defenders Season 8 (4.5 stars)

“It is fitting that I would find what is brightest to me in the darkest place.”

Voltron Legendary Defenders Season 8

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi

Number of episodes: 13 (Completed)

Rating: 4.5 stars

(Review)

DISCLAIMER: Contains spoilers for past seasons and (may have for) this season

Season 1-7 review here.

The final season of Voltron: Legendary Defender focuses on the reunited families, investigating the Altean pilot that was at the cliffhanger of Season 7 and growing the coalition.

Well, I guess one of the couples are endgame (one that I still don’t root for until the end because when you watch the end it seemed so pointless to build it up for 8 seasons LOL). I mean I don’t support the ship, but like they literally only share a kiss for one episode and that’s it, it doesn’t even feel like they’re endgame or any proper closure for this couple (and trust me, this gets worse).

I like that we actually get Haggar/Honerva’s backstory (can I mention that I like Lotor even more now?!) and it also fills in more gaps from the previous seasons. I also think that she made a good villain because of her motivations.

I honestly think that killing of Lotor (in the previous season) was a bad move, because if he wasn’t blamed for actually helping these Alteans, he would have been an awesome leader for the Galra and Coalition if he didn’t turn bad LOL.

The stakes are higher than ever before. I did feel that instead of fully going out with a bang though, most episodes were things that we wanted to see in previous seasons all mashed into this season and a ton of unneeded fillers. I love that the stakes are extremely high for this last season and the whole coalition bands together to help.

Top 3 favourite characters, Keith, Lotor, Allura.

Oh episode 9 had me in tears.

I hated that Allura suddenly went so dark in this season. But I loved that Keith has fully embraced his role as a leader and is leading awesomely at that. I like that Keith and Lance’s frenemy has finally evolved to friendship. I love that Shiro gets to fight the final battle with the original team.

By the end I was a sobbing mess, more of how things ended and that this was the last season and we wouldn’t see our precious cinnamon rolls again T.T It broke my heart.

I have to mention that Shiro’s ending did make me happy, but it was obvious that the creators only did it to rectify things when the fandom was extremely angry that they killed off his ex-boyfriend.

I’m sad that Voltron has ended, but glad that they focused on mainly family in the end. Honestly, I did think of many ways that they could have ended this series better, but I’m giving it a high rating because I am biased AF and I love these characters, but compared to the other seasons, this one was a real let down. I literally didn’t want to watch the series (because it meant that I couldn’t see my favourite characters anymore) and dreaded writing this review because I honestly only gave it a high rating for the characters that I’ve grown to love.

It’s been fun flying with the paladins. Vrepit Sa.

Review:

A couple finds themselves in over their heads when they decide to foster not one, but three children although they lack the experience.

The lighting was mainly warm and the music was light and up-lifting.

I honestly didn’t hear much about this movie until I saw the movie trailer on YouTube.

I did feel that the pacing and the events felt pretty abrupt, but this movie was definitely heartwarming and had a great message. It was entertaining, heartwarming and tear-jerking, a great family movie with a simple storyline.

Adora, raised as a Horde cadet is drawn to a mysterious sword and it turns her into She-ra, the Princess of Power. Along with others from the rebellion, she works to free her land of Etheria from the monstrous Horde.

Never watched the original cartoon back in the day and honestly, the first time I heard about it was at the 2018 New York Comic Con panel, while I was waiting to watch some panels from my other favourite shows

I really liked the friendship between Adora and Catra and how it ended up progressing throughout the entire first season. They are also polar opposites which made their friendship even more interesting to watch. Adora is the rule-abiding people pleaser while Catra is the rash and adventure-seeking girl.

Gave me Voltron merged with Star vs the Forces of Evil vibes.

I think the music for this cartoon is great! I also found this cartoon pretty entertaining. Honestly, I thought it wouldn’t be good and went in with low expectations since those who liked the original didn’t seem to have good things to say, but honestly, this was pretty good!

I actually teared and was pretty entertained and liked the characters. I did feel that the pacing was pretty fast. It was interesting to see the conflict/friendship between Adora and Catra, Adora was always the golden child while Catra was the one who was forced to be bitter and independent. Honestly, I’m excited for a second season (please tell me there is one!) It was exciting, action packed and fun!
